Joomla! 4.0 is on its way.
Joomla! 4.x is the next major version of the Joomla! CMS. This release will introduce new features, raise the minimum supported PHP version to PHP 7, as well as remove previously deprecated functionality. It will be launched simultaneously with the last version of the Joomla! 3.x series which will be supported for two years after its release.
Joomla! 4.0 will, however, introduce backward compatibility breaks which may impact existing sites and extensions. With this mind, we'll be working hard on re-coding our existing client websites so that by 2020 all websites will be able to move seamlessly from version 3.9 to 4.x.
The Joomla! 4.x series will have a new user interface (UI) based on the newly released Bootstrap 4.0. Currently, the Joomla! 3.x series is based on Bootstrap 2.3.2 and this is where the majority of the backwards compatibility issues will be. Bootstrap is the code that makes Joomla! websites mobile-responsive. When version 4.0 is released Business Pluspoint will be working on designing a brand new template from scratch based on the new system.
In the meantime...
...the development of two new websites and the ongoing maintenance and management of the existing websites continues.
